The National Scholarship Office offers a range of services to VCU students and alumni who are interested in applying for competitive national and international scholarships and fellowships. Our services include:
We hold information sessions throughout the year to inform the VCU community of scholarship and fellowship opportunities.
We meet with individuals who are trying to determine for which scholarships or fellowships they should apply.
We consult with candidates about the choice of recommenders and coordinate the submission of letters of recommendation.
We offer writing workshops to help applicants start the writing process and organize groups of applicants to share feedback with their peers.
We work closely with applicants to help them craft the strongest possible scholarship essays and personal statements.
We coordinate the processes by which VCU students and alumni are endorsed or nominated for those awards which require them.
We assist applicants in gathering letters of support and transcripts and with the final submission of their online and/or hard copy application materials.
We organize practice interviews to help prepare applicants for actual interviews required for some awards.
We assist faculty who are supporting their students or former students in national scholarship competitions.
